Team California ready to compete at USAW Junior Duals in Tulsa, OK

ZANDER & EVAN WICK

ZANDER & EVAN WICK – 2015 Junior FS All-American (FARGO)

TULSA, OK – Both the Greco-Roman and Freestyle squads from the state of California are ready to compete in the 2016 USAW Junior Duals and return back with some hardware from the event.
The Freestyle team is loaded with talented wrestlers that can certainly help the team in close matches were a technical fall or fall is necessary for the squad to advance in the pool.
When analyzing the team, we recognize that at 120lbs. we have two outstanding wrestlers in the University of Indiana signed Liam Cronin, and Chase Zollmann who competes for the mean green machine of Poway High. Cronin is a two-time state runner-up and 2015 USAW Fargo runner-up, while Zollman is a two-time state place winner and recently placed seventh at the 2016 UWW Cadet Freestyle Nationals.
At 132 and 138lbs, we have the duo of David Campbell and Jaden Enriquez of Mission Oaks High. Enriquez is an accomplished Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestler that will content for a Fargo title later next month. Campbell accomplished his longtime dream of becoming a state champion this past season and he is a master in the neutral position.
Also at 138lbs team California has two-time state place winner Alex Felix from Gilroy High. Felix and Enriquez should give a great advantage to the team in this extremely difficult tournament.
The murderer’s row for team California will come from 145lbs. to 182lbs. Trence Gillem (145), Zander Wick (152), Evan Wick (160) and Jeremy Thomas (170) were all state champions in California. Add state tournament bronze medalist winner Josh Kim (145), 2016 Flo Nationals Champion Anthony Mantanona (170) and state runner-up Chris Baily (182) and this line-up will be tough to beat.
We can forget Fargo All-Americans Oscar Nellis (113), Chris Ayala (220) and Gavin Nye (285), as well as state qualifiers and place winner Eric Sanchez (106), Enrique Zavala (113), Marco Ramirez-Lazo (126) and Mark Chaid (195), as they will be crucial to the success of the team in the tournament.
UWW Cadet Champion Peyton Omania will lead the way for the Greco-Roman team.
2016 U.S. Cadet Team Member Peyton Omania (145) will attempt and led California to a National Championship with his outstanding technique and mat awareness. He will be joined by fellow Concord Youth Center teammates in 2015 Fargo Cadet National Champion Patrick Ramirez (132) and Mason Hartshorn at 120 pounds.
Fargo All-Americans Oscar Nellis (113), Bonifacio Escobar (195), Darryl Aiello (220) and Fargo participant Andrew Cervantes (160) will be key components for the team success.
