Anthony Orozco, who competed for Vista Murrieta and was eighth at the 2016 CIF state tournament, has been granted a full release from Benedictine College and will continue his collegiate career for Coach Joey Martinez and the Oaks.
As a true freshman, Orozco entered the NAIA tournament as the No. 11 seed at 165lbs. and came away with All-American status by placing fourth in the event. Menlo did not advance a wrestler to the NAIA tournament last season at 165lbs, so Orozco should be the front runner to take over the varsity spot.
Orozco finished the 2016-2017 season with an overall record of 33-8 and won individual titles at the Dakota Wesleyan University Open and the Joe Parisi Open.
