Yesterday evening, one of the top recruits from the class of 2020 Sonny Santiago (St. John Bosco), announced his college intentions via social media. Santiago has given a verbal commitment to the Sun Devils of Arizona State. Santiago’s stock drastically improved after the month of October as he placed third at the most robust weight class at the Journeyman Fall Classic and the Super 32 Invitational.
He will join fellow Bosco alumni’s Anthony and Zahid Valencia competing for the Pac 10 power. Two-time state champion Cleveland Belton, of St. John Bosco, will also compete for Arizona State next fall.
As a sophomore, Santiago was triumphant in winning a Southern Section Masters Meet title and placing sixth at the state tournament at 138-pounds. During the regular season, he was third at Battle for the Belt tournament and second at the always competitive Doc Buchanan Invitational. Santiago is projected to compete for 157/165 for the Sun Devils.
