Cal Poly Wrestling – End of Summer Update!

Although our official preseason does not begin until September 15th, the guys have been on campus training hard in their second summer training phase. We are excited to get underway. Our 2016-17 competition schedule is in the process of getting released. We will have 8 home dates this season, with 3 teams traveling in from the Big X conference and 4 teams from the Big XII. Below you will find some important dates and events:

Welcome Back Picnic
Meet the team at our Welcome Back Picnic held on Saturday, September 17th (the weekend before schools begins) at Santa Rosa Park from 1:00-3:00 PM. We invite parents, family, friends, and supporters of our program to join our team for an afternoon BBQ. The coaching staff will test their cooking skills as they prepare a meal for everyone to enjoy (hopefully). Additionally, you are invited to observe our open mat workout that morning at 9:00 AM in the main wrestling room.

Please RSVP to tschavri@calpoly.eduif you plan to attend the BBQ.

15th Annual Reunion Golf Tournament
Our golf tournament will be held at the end of the month on Friday, September 30th at Cypress Ridge Golf Course in Arroyo Grande. We still have spots available for golfers and hole sponsorship. Big thanks to Coach Lennis Cowell for putting together a great event for all of us to enjoy.

First Look at the 2016-17 Mustangs
Our Green and Gold Intrasquad match will be held during Cal Poly’s homecoming weekend. We will have the scrimmage on Friday, October 21st outdoors at the University Union at 12:00 PM. Also, please make plans to join us that Saturday at the football tailgates and then to watch our Mustang football team take on UC Davis.

Home Opener
Mark your calendars for Thursday, November 3rd, as we host Indiana University in the Mott Athletics Center at 7:00 PM. Please note that we will also wrestle SF State outdoors in the University Union earlier that day at 1:30 PM.

Thank you for your continuous support.

Go Mustangs,

Coach Jon Sioredas
