In 1972, Chris Anaya was one of the most sought after high school wrestlers in the country during his senior year at San Lorenzo High School (NCS), finishing the season undefeated (52-0) with 35 pins. He won the CIF North Coast Section Championship and the Northern California Invitational Tournament where he was selected as Most Outstanding Wrestler. Anaya also earned high school All-American recognition from Wrestling USA magazine. He attended Chabot College and won the State Community College championship. A two-time All-American, he also won the National Freestyle championship in 1975. He was nationally ranked at Cal Poly. In 2002, Anaya was inducted into Chabot College Hall-of-Fame and in 2019, the California Wrestling Hall-of-Fame.
