Casey, Hall Capture Mike Tamana Tournament Titles

TCW Bear LogoMODESTO, CA – Standout wrestlers Cameron Casey and Jhaylyn Hall captured individual titles at 174 and 184 pounds, respectively, as the No. 9 Santa Rosa Junior College wrestling team claimed the tournament championship at the 2018 Mike Tamana Tournament (Dec. 6) at Modesto Junior College. The Bear Cubs boasted eight medal winners as they won the event with 127 points. Second place team Chabot Junior College scored 123, while West Hills came in third with 91.5.

Casey, ranked 3rd at 174-pounds, earned an individual title by defeating No. 4 Miguel Ruiz of Fresno City in the championship finals. A total of three ranked wrestlers by the CCAA state rankings competed in the weight class.

Hall, the No. 2 ranked wrestler at 184-pounds, earned his championship title by defeating the top wrestler in the CCCAA Tevin Bailey of Lassen College in the finals. Due to his outstanding performance in the tournament Hall received the Outstanding Wrestler Upper Weight award.
Joshua Wright advanced to the finals of the 165-weight class but was defeated in the finals by the No. 1 wrestler in the state in Augustine Garcia of Fresno City.
