Saddle Up Your Horses We Got a Trail to Blaze

Gilroy High’s Sr. wrestling sensation, Chase Saldate bags a coveted new Stetson cowboy hat after taking the Doc Buchanan Tournament championships this past January 4-5 in Clovis, California.

It’s All About the Hat!

The Michigan State-bound Saldate continued his dominant senior campaign with a championship victory in the 138-pound division. And at the prestigious Doc Buchanan Wrestling Tournament, champions are bestowed a brand new Stetson cowboy hat. Saldate got his!

Saldate was Gilroy’s only champion in the Clovis-based tournament, helping to lead the Mustangs to a fourth-place finish overall.

Currently, he is the Number 1-ranked wrestler in NorCal by SportStars Magazine and ranked Number 2 in the state by TheCaliforniaWrestler.com.

Blazing His Trail

Saldate finished fourth in the 126-pound division of the 2018 CIF State Wrestling Championships last March. The win this January is a fitting sendoff to Michigan State where Saldate will wrestle for the Spartans in the Fall.
