SAN FRANCISCO — This Spring, four San Francisco State wrestlers traveled to Southeast Asia for World Team Tryouts.

One group spent a week in Manilla at the Filipino National Training Center, where they trained with the Filipino National Team and then competed for a spot on the World Team in their respective age groups.

Redshirt freshmen Tony Margiotta and Angelo Reyes secured spots on the Junior World Team at 57kg and 61 kg, respectively. Mason Boutain, who was an RMAC champion for the Gators at 157 lb. in 2018, made the U23 World Team at 70kg.

Justin Pichedwatana, an NCAA Division II All-American at 184 lb., spent a week in Thailand at the National Training Center in Nakhon Ratchasima, where he participated in a national team training camp and also had an official tryout. Pichedwatana secured the U23 World Team spot at 86kg.

Now that this group has secured spots on the World Team, they will look to represent the Philippines and Thailand at Continental and World Championships in the 2019-20 season in addition to their collegiate competition.
