The Cal Poly wrestling staff got some great news this afternoon as four-time state champion Legend Lamer of Crescent Valley, Oregon, decided to continue his collegiate career for the Mustangs. Legend becomes the second Lamer sibling to compete for the Mustangs as his elder brother (Brawley) redshirted last season for Cal Poly.
Legend was a four-time District and state champion in Class 5A. He finished the 2017-18 season with a state championship at 138-pounds and a 47-2 record. After winning his historic fourth state title, Legend competed at USAW Folkstyle Nationals and won the event by obtaining a (10-0) major decision over a Minnesota state champion. Legend is expected to challenge for some varsity time at either 141 or 149-pounds.
The Lamer family is well known throughout the state of Oregon and the country. His younger sibling (Chance) recently represented the United States in Croatia at 45 kg where he placed fifth. His father (Chad) was a three-time NCAA Division II Champion for South Dakota State. He was also twice on the U.S. freestyle national team and competed in the 2004 U.S. Olympic trials.
