WRE | Gators Trio Named to 2019 All-RMAC Wrestling Team
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) announced the 2018-19 All-RMAC Wrestling teams and San Francisco State had three grapplers named to the team. Maxamillian Schneider was named to the All-RMAC First Team while Jordan Gurrola and Justin Pichedwatana were named to the All-RMAC Second Team.
At 165 pounds, Schneider is 9-2 this season and has won five of those bouts by fall. The Chicago native has also scored a pair of tech falls. The 26-year-old sophomore brings a four-bout win streak into regionals.
Gurrola, who has been ranked as high as No. 10 in NCAA Division II at 133 pounds, was named to the All-RMAC Second Team at 133 pounds. The Long Beach, California native is currently 17-6. He has four wins by fall, three by tech fall, and four by major decision. The redshirt senior has won his last eight bouts.
At 184 pounds, Pichedwatana leads the Gators with 20 wins this season. The junior recorded an eight-bout win streak from November 30 to January 5 and six consecutive wins from January 18-25. He has won five bouts by fall, half a dozen by tech fall, and a pair by major decision. The Lakewood, California native also placed second in the 184-lb. class at the Menlo Open
No. 11 Western State’s Brandon Supernaw, the top-ranked wrestler in NCAA Division II at 174 pounds, was named Wrestler of the Year. Adams State’s Jonathan Andreatta was named Freshman of the Year. Colorado Mines’ Austin DeVoe was named Coach of the Year.
