Jeremy who competes for Acalanes High in the North Coast Section will be taking his talent this fall to the University of Pennsylvania. Ridge was a 2017 CIF state qualifier after placing third in his section tournament. He is scheduled to compete for Penn at either 149 or 157-pounds.
Jeremy holds all of the Acalanes High School career records as he is the first grappler from that school to win a match at the CIF state tournament. Last season, he finished top 12 at the CIF state championships and was a recipient of the 2017 California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Pursuing Victory With Honor Award. He completed his high school career with a 132-38 record.
This year, he finished the season early due to a season-ending injury (illegal body slam). At the time Jeremy was ranked 7th in California and 1st in the NCS at 152. He was unable to compete at this year’s State Championships but plans on competing in Freestyle and Greco again the year.
Jeremy ended up committing to wrestle at the University of Pennsylvania due to an Early Decision. The Ivy League, Early Decision acceptances, were announced on December 13. He has a GPA of 4.54. Many college coaches learned of his accomplishments because he competed internationally in Japan and Hungary. Thanks to the Concord Community Youth Center and Coach Mark Halvorson for his time and dedication to Jeremy.
