Two-time CIF state qualifier for the Mean Green Machine of Poway High Cameron Santiago gave Northern Colorado a verbal commitment on Thursday morning to help shore up some of the depth issues at the lighter weights.
Santiago became a state qualifier as a junior at 120-pounds, after placing third at the San Diego Section Masters Meet tournament. He equaled the feat once again this season after placing second in the section tournament. During his two seasons as a varsity wrestler, he helped the Titans captured their 37th section title and placed third at the state meet the past two years.
Throughout the season, Santiago was solid for the Titans as he placed at such prestigious events as Clovis West Shootout, Reno TOC, Battle for the Belt, and the Mid-Cals tournaments. Santiago is projected to compete for a starting spot at 125/133.
