Panthers beat Shasta College to go to 3-0 in the BIG 8 and 12-2 on the season!!!

Sac City traveled to Shasta College for a BIG 8 Conference match. The Panthers won 9 of 10 matches including the last 8 in a row for a 42-6 victory.

Conrad Trevino (Fresh-Del Campo HS-165) and Bronson Harmon (Fresh-184-Oakdale HS) both had pins for SCC.

Marques Evans (Soph-149-Cappuchino HS) picked up a tech fall while Brian Horn (Soph-197-Rocklin HS) scored a major.
SCC wrestled in the Bill Musick Open Tournament at Fresno City College on Nov. 3rd. 4 Panther wrestlers came away with medals as SCC left many at home to recover from some minor injuries.

Leading the way was Brian Horn (Soph-197-Rocklin HS). He finished 2nd to Isaiah Perez of Fresno State. Horn had a first-round bye, then Tech Falled Jauregui of Fresno City. In the semi, he met Tony Rogers of Lassen. Rogers won a 5-3 match a week ago over Horn. This time Horn turned it up a notch. He scored a first-period takedown and added two near falls to take an 8-0 lead. In the 2nd period, he scored another takedown and added two more near falls for a 16-0 win. He lost a hard fought 3-2 match to Perez.

Steven Abbott (Soph-184-Orland HS) finished 3rd at 184. After receiving a bye, he pinned Nguyen of UCLA to reach the semi. He lost to the returning tournament champion, Solis of Fresno State by a 10-6 score. It was a very good match going back and forth. After the loss, Abbott scored a fall over Nunez of Cerritos and then a major decision over Dean of Fresno City.

Jordan Denny (Soph-174-Folsom HS) finished in 4th place at 174. Denny lost his first match of the day by decision, then won 3 straight to get to the 3rd place match. He lost to the #1 seed, Abner of Fresno City, but it was Denny’s best finish of the season.

Also having his best finish was Ryun Ortiz (Soph-125-Potomac HS, VA). Ortiz lost his first match of the day, then won his next two by fall. He suffered a tough match against Nira of Embry Riddle. For 5th place, Ortiz scored a 7-6 win over the #1 seed, Joey Delgado of Fresno State.

Others getting wins on the day were: Ryan Harlow (Fresh-133-Elk Grove HS) 2 wins and Thomas Thornton (Soph-141-Yuba City) 1 win.
