One of the top rising juniors in the state of California and the country, CHRISTIAN RODRIGUEZ, confirmed with The California Wrestler, his decision to continue his college education for Coach Troy Steiner and Fresno State. Rodriguez will become the second Selma Bear to compete for the Bulldogs as former teammate Robert Garcia IV is currently a freshman on the team.
Rodriguez comes from a wrestling family as his elder brother (Alex) was a California state finalist in 2009. Since his youth days, Christian has been dominating all competition he faced and he continued his winning ways in high school by becoming a state qualifier as a freshman and placing fifth last year in the state tournament as a sophomore.
Christian will test his skills later this month as he will compete in the Super 32 tournament and will wrestle at the Walsh Jesuit Ironman tournament, considered the toughest tournament in the country, in December once the high school season begins. He is projected to compete for the Bulldogs at either 174 or 184.
