The California Invitational Tournament (aka, CIT) at Morro Bay High School is among the longest run tournament in the state of California. This year marked the 65th Annual and featured many sectional and state ranked wrestlers spanning from the Southern, Central Valley, Sac-Joaquin, and North Coast Sections. Standing out among the tournament’s strong field is state qualifier, Noah Mirelez of Patterson High School in the Sac-Joaquin Section. Entering the 2018 – ’19 season low on the state radar, Mirelez has been making some noise thus far with his performances at the Zinkin Classic, Doc Buchanan Invitational, and this past weekend at the CIT. Ranked #7 in the state by TCW, Mirelez entered the tournament seeded #2 behind the state’s top ranked, Henry Porter of Oakdale. Throwing all seeds and rankings out the door, Mirelez methodically worked his way into the championship final and showed the crowd why he’s a strong contender to earn a spot on the podium at Bakersfield with his third-round fall and upset over Porter for the tournament title.
As a result of his strong performance at the CIT, the TCW has chosen Noah Mirelez this week’s Wrestler of the Week. Congratulations and a job well done!
