Arguably the toughest high school tournament in the country, Quentin Hovis of Poway entered the Walsh Ironman in Ohio seeded #2 behind the nation’s top wrestler, David Carr of Massillon Perry High School (Ohio). After battling through a tough field and surviving a close call in the semifinals against #15 ranked (decision 2-1 TB), Connor Brady of Olentangy Liberty High School (Ohio), Hovis avenged a previous loss to Carr at the Beast of the East with a 5-2 decision in the championship final. Hovis becomes the 13th California wrestler to earn a prestigious Walsh Ironman title. Job well done!
