Adam Arenas (Palomino Academy) won his four USAW Greco-Roman state championship by going 4-0 on the day. He earned a fall, a regular decision, and two 10-0 technical falls, including one against 2016 Fargo double All-American Timothy Levine of St. John Bosco.
Richard Castro-Sandoval (CCWA) won his first Greco-Roman state championship as he dominated the 120-pound bracket with a fall and three technical falls. In the finals, he outwrestled Cade Lucio of Jr Drillers, 16-5. Castro-Sandoval was third in this tournament last year.
Jose Fernandez (Golden State Wrestling) put the smacked down on all competitors he faced this past weekend by either obtaining the fall or the technical fall. He won both the Cadet and Junior Divisions at 126 and thrilled the masses in the finals against Aaron Perez (North Coast Grapplers) as he racked up 31 points in the match.
Kyle Parco (CYC) brought the house down as he crushed the 138-pound bracket this weekend. None of his adversaries he met during the tournament scored a point against him. He earned a fall and three 10-0 technical falls to become a state champion for the first time.
Guillermo Escobedo (Titan Mercury Wrestling Club) won his second CA USAW Greco-Roman championship by earning a 10-2 technical fall over Denzel Mabry of the Wan Tu Wazuri Wrestling Club at 182. Escobedo went 3-0 during the weekend.
