Tri-Titans wins 9th Annual SCWAY Americas Cup

Oakdale, CA – After an exhausting weekend of competition, Team Tri-Titans, based out of San Diego, won the 9th Annual SCWAY Americas Cup.

The SCWAY Americas Cup is a tournament that gathers some of the top talent from the golden state and competes in a round-robin dual-meet tournament. Teams from the Central Valley, Sac-Joaquin Valley, Bay Area, Northern and Southern California entered this year’s event.

Team Tri-Titans, whose majority of its wrestlers compete for Rancho Bernardo High, also had grapplers from Poway, Scripps Ranch, Eastlake, Northview, Monache, Del Oro and Santa Fe.

Wearing their Cobra Kai/Titans Armor singlets, Tri-Titans defeated Sac-Joaquin All-Stars (25-19) in the first round. NHSCA All-American Mark Cardwell (168) kickoff the dual-meet by defeating CIF state place winner Noah Blake, 5-4, in a highly contested match. Chaz Hallmark (125) and Jaden Le (140) were triumphant in obtaining the fall over their respected opponents.

In round two, Tri-Titans faced off against Buchanan Red, a notable tough opponent from the Central Valley. Tri-Titans won the dual (31-9) by winning seven of the ten contested matches. State medalist Carson Sauriol (118) was the lone wrestler to obtain the fall as he pinned Robert Holguin in the third period of their match. Tyler Badgett (147) and Mark Cardwell (168) were too much for their opposition as both won via major decision.

Tri-Titans final dual-meets were against Clovis Cougars and host school Oakdale. Against Oakdale, Chaz Hallmark (125), Jaden Le (140), Gabriel Cortez (148), and J.T. Stinson (155) won their bouts by pinning their opponents. Adrian Limon (110) and Carson Sauriol (115) were winners via major decision to defeat Oakdale (42-9) and claim the championship trophy.
